Happy {Four Year} Anniversary, Tyrel!!!
I am so lucky to have such a great friend, husband, and father in my life!

A brief history of our couple-ship:

-6 years of friendship
-5 years of love
-4 years of marriage
-3 apartment/home rentals, pregnancies, cars owned, times Tyrel has given me flowers {it's a big deal when he does it!!}, number of computers I have gone through
-2 sweet kiddos {we are just going to count the monster in tummy, right?}, different states we have lived in, wedding rings lost by Tyrel, college degrees{soon{ish} to be three!}, times we have raised our voices at each other {one of our two big rules of marriage}
-1 house purchased, year in Minnesota, trip to the emergency room, time Tyrel has convinced me to ride roller coasters, times throwing up in public {my bad}
-0 times Vandy has probably really been 100% right, times gone to bed angry with each other {our other rule of marriage}, times traveled overseas, times Tyrel has let me down,  years I want to live without him
-a billion laughs, tears, giggles, made-up songs, kisses, inside jokes, times asked to scoot over at night and stop hogging the bed, more years to do all these things some more

I sure hope you all have a good day, because we are certainly planning on it!
I woke up to a dozen rozes, crepes, and a toddler already rousted and playing on the floor.
There will be a little shopping, a little appetizer eating, a little World War Z-ing, a little no-Kemry-time-ing, and some cooking and mutilating of some baby back ribs later tonight.

Here's to a billion more years!
{Especially to next year in which we venture to the DOMINICAN REPUBLIC for our anniversary!
Holla!!!}

happy father's day!

6.16.2013

Here is a thank you to my sweet daddy for picking on me goodheartedly when I was a kid so I would grow up tough {even though I still don't like it when you flick me on the forehead...}. I sure do love you :)

And another thank you to my father-in-law for throwing Tyrel in a cold shower when he was younger to shock the snottiness and bad attitude out of him. I only have to do it a few times a week now that he is grown up!

And, last, but certainly not least, thanks to my hubster for being the best daddy to my littles. Kemry thinks the world of you, and I know that our little boy is already crazy about you.
Nothing melts my heart more than seeing you {usually out of the corner of my eye} waltz with Kemry in the kitchen or letting her grab your face with her little hands and give you sloppy kiss after kiss after kiss :)

We like daddies a lot around here.
And I am so lucky to have three great ones!
Happy Father's Day!

warm fuzzies

5.25.2013

I seriously don't think there is anything that makes me more giddy than watching Kemry and Tyrel play together.
BFFs.
Totally.
Every morning when she wakes up she asks, "Where's Daddy?" and runs out to find him.
When she gets up from naps, she asks the same question, followed by, "Oh yeah. Daddy at work. Daddy come back?"
And then she waits.
And waits and waits and waits.
She meanders over to the window about 5 times throughout the afternoon to peak outside to see if he has pulled up yet.
And when she hears him come home, she goes into hyperdrive.

And let's not even talk about the day after Tyrel has a day off.
The world ends when she realizes that she can't play with daddy all day long.

I am so unbelievably grateful for those two mischievous people in my life.
They make up all of my happiness :)

 -----------------------------------------

PS: Tyrel was extremly proud of this next sequence of photos.
And if you know him, you know how much it screams "Tyrel."
Am I right?

Why, yes.
I am right.

a day of daddy {and mommy too, i guess}

5.10.2013

Not to brag or anything, but Kemry sure loves me.
She falls down, she gets scared, she gets lonely, she gets happy, and its all, "Mommy!!!"
But I secretly think she loves Tyrel a little more.
You should see these two play together.
No one gives better horsey rides, rocket blasts, or sneaks of sugary foods than Daddy.

Tyrel just finished up this last semester, which means we have a month where his days off are completely dedicated to us.
We are so excited.
Tuesday was the first of those days: no school, no work, no church, no baby appointments.
Nothing.
So we did everything!

We met up with Kemry's bestie at the Mall of America to ride some thrilling toddler rides and get smoothies.
Then we headed off to the zoo, the park with a picnic, the greenhouse to smell yummy flowers, and home to run around our {finally green} backyard.
And let me tell you, Kemry wouldn't let Tyrel out of her sight.
Or maybe it was the other way around ;)

This is what happens when you tell her we are going home. The world ends.
My parents are heading up our direction as we speak so we can tear up our yard.
There will be gardening, wood chipping, tilling, dirty fingernails, sweat, and lots of achey backs.
And I can't wait :)

things my husband teaches my child

11.11.2012

I think this might have to be a new series on my blog.
He teaches Kemry lots of things.
For example, how to properly announce a touchdown.
Or how to chant "B-Y-U".
Or how to give "elbows" after high fives and knuckles.

Or this ridiculousness:

Now all she wants to watch is "Op op styyy"
I think we are in for a lot of entertainment with this one, am I right?
{And, for the record, I did not teach her sexy dancing on the floor, but I don't think Tyrel did, either...It must have been Grandpa Murri ;) }

some exciting news

5.10.2012

We're moving!

Well, duh.
I guess everyone knew that.
{And if you didn't, see here}.

We're moving...early!
Like 2 months early.
Like... We-are-moving-in-2-weeks early.

Tyrel scored a pretty awesome job in St. Paul.
Well, actually a few awesome jobs.
He had put in some applications, just for the fun of it, but had our available date toward the end of July/August.
The day after, he got two phone calls, and about a week later, two job offers.

It wasn't really as smooth as that, but nothing ever is.
I will spare you the details, maybe because my heart just recovered from the stress and anxiety of the whole ordeal {mainly putting in my two-weeks at work when we had "pending" job offers...}.

My amazing parents are coming out over Memorial Day weekend and loading up their trailer with all of our junk.
Then we make the trek back to good old South Dakota {I have missed thee!}, where I will stay with my family while Tyrel goes through 4 weeks of training in Nebraska {or maybe Minnesota...details aren't 100% final...there goes my heart attack again}.
After training is finished, we will move up to St. Paul and start another little chapter as a family.

We are terribly excited {although my parents might be more-so than we are, since not-so-baby Kemry will only be 4 hours away instead of 18}.
We are terribly nervous as well.

There is so much to miss {especially all of the amazing family and wonderful friends we have enjoyed here in Idaho (6 years for me, 25 years for Tyrel)} but also so much to look forward to!

To our Rexburg-ian/Idaho Falls-ian/{even Utah-ian} friends:
We will miss you terribly!  Make sure to catch us before we leave!
And come visit.
Mall-of-America.
Done.

To our SoDak-ian friends:
We're coming! We're coming!
Play with us for a month!
Seriously. we are way more fun now that we religiously use sidewalk chalk and professionally sing this song to Kemry {actions and all}!!!

To our Minnesotan friends:
Please be nice to us and pretend you like us.
We might just win you over!
{But really, we have no social life. Let's change that?}

Here's hoping we have lots of fun and exciting things to tell you in the near future!

yes, we watched the super bowl

2.05.2012

...to which {at the final 2 minute mark, to be precise} I said, "Wait. Who's playing?"

When we got home, however, I made Tyrel watch 45 seconds of this:

...to which Tyrel said, "If you are going to watch this, would you at least turn it down?"

So I turned it down.
And then off, because he really, honestly thought I was going to watch an hour of puppies running around in a big box.

Besides, we witnessed the first touchdown within those 45 seconds.

Mission accomplished.

if i could choose again...

10.04.2011

Tyrel saw this on Pintrest while I was spending my "addicted" time browsing various Pins.

We looked at each other sweetly.
Tyrel smiled and said, "If I could choose again, I'd still choose you.....

Ain't he sweet?

father's day

6.20.2011

We had a nice little Father's Day, and I hope you did, too.

I am just tickled that they are so much alike.
Look at those silly faces.

More later, folks.

curse you, tyrel murri

6.10.2011

Yes. It is true.
The NBA Finals.
I guess he had to start her early or something.

the day tyrel and vandy turned 99

6.04.2011

How can that be?
Isn't Vandy only 23?
And Tyrel 26?
It comes down to this, folks.
The worst cold bug ever known to mankind has taken over the Murri household.
It is sicknasty.
Let's just say that the CEO of Kleenex should cut us a rebate check.

I am finally getting over the worst part of my cold.
Tyrel is unfortunately just getting to it.
Neither of us, however, can hear a darn thing.
As we were both getting ready for work this morning, our ears were exceptionally plugged, made so much better by the fact that I hardly had a voice.
Tyrel and I are infamous for trying to talk to one another at the most illogical times, like when one person is standing next to the washer/dryer, holding the screaming baby, or taking a shower with the vent on...
So we already know how short-tempered we are {I am} about this subject.
After the 49th time of Tyrel saying, "Huh? What? I can't hear you", I decided I needed shout what I was saying.
As loud as I could
{which turned out to be a bad idea because of the pain that emanated from lungs due to coughing and phlegm}.
This did not make Tyrel happy.
Which did not make me happy.
Which made Tyrel even more unhappy.
{Well, it was probably just me getting more unhappy again}
{Kemry could have cared less, for the record}
All of this silliness {along with some sore leg muscles from a run earlier in the week where I decided I didn't need to stretch before or after...} made me realize that we are going to make horrid old people.
And isn't the goal of life to become those cute old people who knit and read the paper all day?
And play bingo and take naps?
Or something like that?

But even though we haven't been able to hear each other the past few days, be it due to our plugged ears or the constant coughing/nose-blowing, we still knew how to take care of each other, in our own way...
Including back tickles, face massages, slow walks in the park, and no cooking {hallelujah!}.

So as I sat in the rocking chair, feeding the Kemster her pre-bed bottle {who has also suffered the agony of this cold...don't even get me started on the boogers...} and watched my poor husband with a hot rice pack on his painfully throbbing ear, I realized that, even though we would make an awful elderly couple, we are one rad young family.

And besides, I already know how to knit and am a professional napper.
I guess that means we are half-way there.

deepest thoughts from my husband

5.30.2011

As we were driving to Blackfoot to pick up my stranded, car-broken-down little brother today, Tyrel and I were enjoying a few moments alone.
Just us.
No baby.
It was a quiet drive.
Also nice.
But quiet.
And pleasant.
And rather quite.
After a few minutes of silence, Tyrel turns to me and says,
"I think potatoes are really cool."
I turned and looked at the happiest, most serious but extremely bright eyes.
And burst out laughing.

I think this seals the deal.
I married the cutest Idaho boy ever made.

a boost in my self-worth

5.15.2011

Today we stopped by my in-laws to get some potatoes.
{How do we not have any in our apartment is beyond me. We live in Idaho, for crying out loud. They practically fall out of the kitchen faucet around here.}
They were downstairs watching Lord of the Rings, right in the midst of the battle scene with Orlando Bloom fighting nasty, snot-covered goons and evil elephants.
Tyrel and I love some LOTR, so we casually joined them.
After watching some non-stop Orc action, Tyrel leaned over and whispered, seriously, gently, tenderly in my ear...
"You are so much better-looking than those guys."

Ladies and gentlemen, you can't beat that kind of love.

since maternity leave can't be a full-time job...{yet}...

5.07.2011

...I had to go back to my old one.
Oh shoot.
I was hoping with every fiber of my being that I could just stay at home with the little Kembot, but it just didn't work out that way.
I have, however, survived my first week back.
I guess it is a good thing that I don't completely despise my job.
And I suppose it is good that Tyrel gets to spend a little more time with her, even though it is only one day extra per week.
My little girl always needs more daddy time.

I am slightly concerned, however, that he is creating a cute little monster.

Here she is, just chilling in our living room.
Watching the Travel Channel.
Like it is no big deal.

I can't keep her eyes off of that darn TV.
Ever.
She just rolls over or scoots around until she can see it.
Right now, as a matter of fact, she is wrapped up in the Celtics/Heat game.
And cooing.
Actually, she is pretty much cheering them on.
Tyrel.
What are you doing to our daughter?

Oh well. I guess this means I can enroll our boys in ballet.

"all children, except one, grow up."

4.11.2011

And sometimes I wish I were that child.
And other times, I wish my daughter were that child.
Oh well.
C'est la vie.

Alas. Our trip is over.
Done.
And we are wicked bummed out.
We had a great time, but I guess it is time to get back to the daily grind.
While we were at home, Belle {once again} thought that the baby was hers to protect.
You seriously couldn't go anywhere with Kemry without that little dog following you, all up in your business.

Tyrel, however, can't go anywhere without his blanket.
Yes. That is right.
Precious, huh?
It was a little worn-down, though.
And I was beyond the point of being able to sew up the holes.
It needed a little surgery, so my mom and I took a little time on his birthday to revamp his cuddlebuddy.

And Kemry demanded some more time in her favorite chair.
What a slave-driver.

Now that he had a {new} blanket, she had her cozy-bum time, and I had my new teeth {yessss} we packed up.
And drove to Omaha.
After catching a {delicious} bite to eat with one of my besties, Emily {and her boyfriend}, we crashed at our hotel so we could snooze a little before our flight in the morning.

Kemry slept the whole trip.
What a little trooper!
Once we got back into IF, we stopped to see Ty's family {for his dad's birthday, of course!} and eventually made it home.

Tyrel is back at work, and I am spending my time snuggling up with the Kem-monster, dreading May 1st, when I have to return to work.

Awwww yeah. Rocking the legrolls.

ode to me husband

4.07.2011

Happy birthday, Tyrel.
I adore you, despite {but really because of} all of this...

strange crossdressing at our wedding reception {#2}

thinking we are hot stuff...{even though we are!}

that weird eye thing you always do at me

your loss of humor when i smash cupcakes in your face as you try to eat them

your huge {actually, non-existent} temper

...and really, really because of this...

your big ole' heart and lovely smooches
Have a good one today {with me and the baby, of course!}.
I will save the best poopy diapers of the day for you to change, just because it is your special one.
